FAQs

WHAT HAPPENS IN A YOGA CLASS?

You will be guided through a combination of yoga postures, breathing exercises, relaxation and mindfulness meditation. Depending on the class you attend will depend on the physicality of the class, some can be more dynamic and others more gentle.

IS YOGA SUITABLE FOR EVERYONE?

Yoga can be adapted to suit individual capabilities and needs, both physically and mentally. Yoga can help improve and maintain mobility by strengthening the body, increasing flexibility and enhancing balance of the body.

Yoga can improve overall emotional and physical wellbeing, reducing stress and anxiety and improving quality of sleep.

If you have specific requirements this can also be discussed on a consultation and a programme can be designed specifically for you.

DO I NEED TO PREPARE FOR A YOGA CLASS?

Yoga is best practiced on an empty stomach, if you can avoid eating for approximately two hours before attending a class you will be more comfortable and likely find the practice more beneficial.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Wear comfortable clothes, e.g. leggings, jogging bottoms, t-shirt, light jumper and bring layers with you. During a more energetic class you may get warm and for a gentler class and the relaxation part of any class you may feel cooler.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

At a minimum you will require a mat. Yoga blocks and a yoga strap are very useful for supporting you in postures, but not essential, a blanket and a cushion are good other props for the relaxation part of a class and as padding if required.

WHAT INFORMATION DO I NEED TO SHARE WITH MY YOGA TEACHER?

If you have an injury, health concern or are pregnant please share this information at the beginning of the yoga class or get in touch prior to class if you feel it is necessary.

WHAT ALTERNATIVE THERAPIES CAN I USE?

LDV Yoga recommends Calmer minds Hypnotherapy, if you are interested to find out more about hypnotherapy and what it can do for you, there is some great information here.
